Frisco Workforce Youth Program

Are you between the ages of 16-21? Do you have goals that you need help to achieve? Are you looking for a career path? Do you need a little extra help getting a job or succeeding in school? Workforce Investment Act Programs (WIA) may be what you looking for!!!

WIA is an eligibility-based program designed to help young people 16-21, who are economically disadvantaged and have barriers to employment. Participants must be both eligible and suitable for the program. Enrollment in the program entails a long term commitment both on the part of the Workforce Center and the Participant. The goal is to help our Youth to develop into contributing, self-sufficient adults. The Youth Program provides a variety of services to help youth reach personal, employment, or educational goals.

Youth Activities May Include:

*Pre-Employment Training (applications, resume, interviewing) and workshops
*Work-readiness preparation such as work ethics and employer expectations
*Basic Skills Training (including GED)
*Occupational Skills Training (Classroom Training Scholarships and On-The-Job Training Opportunities)
*Career planning such as interest assessments, vocational plan development
*Supportive resources and referrals to other services

Whether you just need a few job-hunting tips, or you would like to get personal, goal-oriented support, they will work with you to identify the activities and resources that will be most appropriate for your individual needs and goals!
